In this tutorial we will learn how to change the gimp splash / loading screen.
    Default:
    Mine:

    First, make your splash!

Then, go to your gimp folder. My Directory was:
    C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner\.gimp-2.4\

Make a new folder by right clicking, and going to
    New > Folder.
    Name it "Splashes"

Open the folder. Place your splash image in the folder.

If you want to use mine, save this image:

Start up gimp, and There it is!

If you add more than 1 image, it will be random every time you open gimp.

Just a couple of things...obviously, this tutorial is aimed at Windows users. Also, in terms of the path you display:

    C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner\.gimp-2.4\

I assume "HP_Owner" is the user name you use to login to your computer. That part of the path will (obviously) be different for each person.

Next, and you may not know the answer, but how does this translate to Linux? Would the path be for example: /home/username/.gimp-2.4 (I assume it would be)?

Finally, does this permanently replace the original GIMP splash screen? I mean, it's got to live somewhere. What if I want it back?

    Thanks.

@starlight86...you only think she's cute because you've put tape over her mouth...

    jk ;)

    In Linux it's
    Code:
    /usr/share/gimp/2.0/images
    . At least that's what it's for me. :)

@L7hope, thanks. That's the right place. gimp-logo.png gimp-splash.png are the files currently inhabiting that directory.

@hevis, maybe you'd get more mileage out of history class if you used the time to study history. ;)

Well, you've got me there. I'm not a student in your class, so I know what it's like. I *do* have three university degrees, so I know what it's like to be a student, and most of the technologies I use on the job, I taught myself, so I have the idea that "focus" has something to do with learning. ;)
