Chatbox Idea

I think it'd be a good idea to have a chatbox at the bottom of the homepage where users can chat with one another, about whatever. I know it's nothing new a bunch of other forums have it, but it's just a thought.

Personally, I don't see any reason to get one, but that's probably because I'm used to posting on hyper mode Although it's not a bad idea, for those who aren't on hyperdrive ;P

We need maffe to explode in threads so we can all see it, not just who's in the chatbox. :3

Yeah I didn't think of that, it's happened like that on past forums I've been on.

lmao. but yes, with a chatbox in use people will post what they have to say in their instead ofin threads, reducing posting activity and all that, I had this idea awhile back i believe, it was either here or another forum... not too sure. But Cyril is right, we need as much posting activity as we can get atm =P, that's why maffe is sort of like the forum superhero here xD, he makes sure to let his opinion (or just random spammy comments, not that it gets too outta hand though) out everywhere lol.

Plus I've seen lots of people get angry on other forums because some bored spammers decide to spam hateful and obscene comments (and pictures if the chatbox supports posting them) in the chatbox. And since the chatbox is right on the front page it's viewable by everyone who signs in... kids, parents, heavy christians who will see those things posted and be like , and people who just dont wanna see comments and pics of that nature lol.

Worst part of one of the attacks im referring to is, it took a mod with power 6 hours to come online and fix it (they attacked at night, all of the mods were in the same timezone pretty much lol, but most members were online at this time, plus we only had 3 busy mods and an inactive administrator, so you can imagine what our forum looked like by the time the mod came on... he wasn't too happy xD). But I digress...

I'ts got its pros and cons theres no lie about that. Some of the cons would be
things like: forum post going down, chat over run by spammer, people shouting
vulgarities at each other, and thats just a start. Though I think with proper
moderation it could develop into a fine idea, for it gives 2 things right off the bat.
It give instant response to your problem or question and it give voice to the
"lurker crowd" who think signing up to a forum is quite literary the end of the world.

My recommendation would be to just stick with the forums only, for you know it works,
because the friendly, helpful atmosphere has already been established.
