Hi everyone,
I have a few Adobe Illustrator (.ai) files that I would like to convert to jpg / pdf or at least view and print. Is there a gimp plugin that would enable me to do so?

no...at least i couldn't find one...u need illustrator or photoshop to open it.

you might want to try http://www.inkscape.org/ its a open source vector based program that has limited .ai support.
