Snow Leopard installation problem

Hello,

I've tried to install GIMP onto my Mac running Snow Leopard but have encountered the following problems:

1. GIMP opens but can't see any image files in external storage i.e. it only seems to be able to access files on the Macintosh HD.

2. When I install the user help files onto the Macintosh HD, GIMP can't find them and I get the 'Eeeek!' message. GIMP will open up the help files when I install them onto an external storage drive - the same drive it can't see to access image files.

I've now uninstalled GIMP totally out of frustration and would appreciate advice on what I am doing wrong before making one last attempt.

1. in the open dialog, use 'File System', then select 'Volumes' and your external storages ( = volumes) will show up.

2. on Snow Leopard you need the latest version. This is 2.6.7p1 and the latest help files packages. An older GIMP version will not work with the new help files, and the new GIMP version will not work with older help files. To download the latest versions (GIMP and help files) just go to

and re-download the packages.

Of course, you can user the the online available help pages, instead of the locally installed ones. Use the menu "Help -> GIMP online -> User manual web site"
