Help installing Separate+ CMYK plugin

Postby David4321 » Sun Mar 09, 2008 6:26 am

Hello,

I am looking for someone who is willing to handhold a non-programmer through installing the Separate+ CMYK plugin, start to finish.

I found the plug-in Separate+ which has CMYK capability
at http://cue.yellowmagic.info/softwares/separate.html

I researched about how to put things in the plugins folder, but I do not understand the files in this package, and which ones to use.

I am completely unfamiliar with how to deal with these types of libraries and files - I have only used executables.

I am very computer literate, but I am not a programmer, I will never be one, and I do not wish to learn any more than necessary to get the CMYK conversions done.

Thanks so much for your help.

Extract your plug-ins , there will be a separate.exe and separate_import.exe

go to your DOCUMENT AND SETTINGS -> USER -> .gimp-2.4 *or whatever version you have* -> plug-ins
deposit them there

liblcms.dll is needed but it seems that gimp also uses it,  no need to copy it

start up gimp, create an image and press on Image -> Separate, the rest is yours

NOTE: CMYK profile does not come with the plugin

Should result look like negative?

Thanks for the reply.

I followed all READ ME instructions, installed the files you mentioned and CMYK profiles, and I get the menus and can do the functions.

The result looks like a b&w negative. I never saw that in photoshop - is that correct?

Many thanks again..

Resolved

Thanks for the help

I resolved this.

I had failed to check "make CMYK pseudo-composite" on save dialogue.

That caused it to display as negative.

Be Well
