it seems many of you would like the shoutbox.. i personally agree with ookie, but this is a community site even though i pay the bills its up to you guys really, so how about a vote? setup a poll Ll_Llama and lets hear it

well that makes sense but the point ookie was saying and which i agree with him is that if we did have one people wouldn't bother using the forum.. it would be like a chat room and that in the long run would make the forum less attractive for new members...

No way! Shoutboxes kill forums. If you add a shoutbox, what is the point of the forum? I am on a lot of popular design forums and none of them have shoutboxes for that reason.

i personally think shoutboxes defeat the whole idea of a forum
when a visitor comes in and sees everyone posting in the shoutbox and not the forums, they might not want to join

also that is the easiest place for someone to start a flame war
and if someone visiting saw that i dont think they'd be too impressed at 2 people fighting on over a shoutbox

of course its not my decision but i dont think it is necassary

in a perfect world where everyone got along, then yeah.
but if you think this is a perfect world, you need to wake up and smell the flowers
