How do I install plug-ins? (I'M USING LINUX! (Gnome, Debian Etch))

Go to your program folders, and open GIMP's. then click share, then gimp, then 2.0, then click the scripts folder. Just copy and paste'm there. You need to restart GIMP to get it to work though, unless if it's not up.

The program folder is located in your hard drive, which can be accessed from My Computer. The hard drive has a letter to represent it (The default is C:).

here is how you can find the folder path for your plugins.. its taken from gimper's latest pattern tutorial. so instead of the pattern folder you would be looking for the script folder, if you look at the image you can see scripts under fonts

go to folders and notice he path of the pattern folder, in my case it was C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\.gimp-2.4\patterns place it there close gimp and re-open it and you should
be able to see our newly created pattern inside gimp.

OK, that was just confusing...


Anyway, I tried doing what Rsim said, but not exactly (since I'm using Linux...), that didn't work. Then I saw your "How to install brushes topic" I figured it would be the same with plug-ins, only you put them in the plug-ins folder. Now I ask:


Where's the plug-ins in GIMP?>_<

no need to call names  >:(. what roy tried to explain was spot on, if you go into gimp's preference and then folders>plug-ins it will show you the path of gimps plug-ins folder regardless of which OS your using...

once in the gimp folder go to the plugins folder and paste the plugin there also,
if ud like gimp to always show in ur home dir
go to edit-->preferences (in ur file browser) then show hidden files and folders and backups
then gimp folder will always be in home dir, and u can just paste plugins/brushes etc in the appropriate folder inside the .gimp-2.4 folder
