Posting Your Signature on GIMPER.NET

While most experienced "gimpers" or experienced discussion board members know how to post signature images, that skill may seem challenging to people new to forums. With that in mind, this simple tutorial should help you get it sorted. For the purposes of this tutorial, I'll use a sample image stored on my personal website as an example, but you can host images on the web at places such as Imageshack. Here we go.

1. In the GIMPER.NET forum toolbar, click User Control Panel .
2. In the Options menu on the left, click Profile (two.png).
3. In the Options menu under Profile, click Edit signature.
4. In the Edit signature field, enter the full URL to the graphic you want to put in your signature, surrounded by IMG tags (three.png).
5. When finished, click Submit.
6. When prompted, click the Return to the User Control Panel link.
7. Locate a post you made in any forum thread to see the new graphic appear in your signature (four.png).

Click on any of the attached images to see a larger version. It's especially important for you to get a clear view of three.png, since it shows you how to use the IMG tags with the URL to the signature graphic.

Before actually posting any sort of signature to GIMPER.NET, please review the Forum Rules and Guidelines, particularly the section called Overview of Signature Guidelines.

I'd be glad to, but where do you keep them. I can't find them in the FAQs. Of course, I just woke up and didn't get a lot of sleep last night, so I might have missed them. Link, please.

Thanks. I amended the tutorial with this info. Just a suggestion, but it might be helpful to add this link to a section on the FAQ page. It would make it easier for staff to refer members to it.

Two things:

First, is you signature image online? Make sure you can see it from the Internet by pasting the URL to the image in a browser address window. Don't forget to press Enter.

Second, verify that the tags are correct with the

[img]

tag right before the image and the

[/img]

tag right after it.
