If you are going to install it, select both your directories to be your desktop and discheck the "make a start menu folder"
Since you only need whats in the plugin folder, the rest... you delete!

Download the link in the first post, whenever the program asks for where you want the files extracted (it asks twice) select your desktop.
Also uncheck the "make a start menu folder"
then on your desktop there is one folder with 2 files, where one is the filter. KEEP THIS FOLDER
Delete the other.
Then move the contet of the other folder to where ever your pspi is looking for filters!

I have the GrowCut plug-in - commercial - and it does work with Gimp very nicely



GML matting is not supposed to be free anymore - sadly

I downloaded it though - what the heck my as well see what its all about.
I wonder if this is a knock off version - far as i know the program was sold to GrowCut

The program (in the first post) SUX!!!
The preview is not acievable(?) with a rough render... you have to be exact... and then its better to just render the thing with the paths tool

I figured it was probably a knockoff version - GrowCut works awesome. But it costs 80 dollars.
Figure i would give the other program (first post) a try though - see what it does.
maffe if you want to move that folder with the GML matting 8bf in it, you can.Then just point PSPI to where ever you put it
I have a special folder on my desktop named Gimp.Inside it are all my images and other important folders like a preset folder.That folder contains all my photoshop filters in separate folders.
For instance all my Alien Skin 8bfs are in a folder named AlienSkin - then i just point PSPI to that particular folder.
Most of my PS filters i now run through Robs new Shellout script (which opens your current gimp image in XnView or a few other compatible programs), and then you can run your filter and resave the image - then that program will close and gimp will re-open the edited image again and there you go.

Excellent addon to Gimp imho.
PSPI really isn't any longer needed.
You can even run Paintshop Pro's filters through Shellout.
Currently i have 10 programs that i can call through Gimp to edit my images in a different program, and send them back to Gimp.

The only PS filters i run through PSPI now are
GrowCut
Little Ink Pot
Redfield
Alienskin
DC
XImagic

The rest i run through XnView and Robs script - much easier

Just place it in your plug-ins folder and you will find it under Filters/Shellout
When you run it there is a drop down menu with a list of programs you can open.
You can of course add more if you wish. (you have to edit the python script to add more)

Make sure you save it as XnVIewShell.py get rid of the txt extension or it won't work.

Okay, there's a problem

I use Ubuntu...

PSPI is an emulator for PS plug-ins in Windows.
I installed that emulator with wine, a Windows emulator.
I installed the GMLmatting.exe with an emulator as well...

So now I'm running Gimp running an emulator that is run by an emulator to install a plug-in installed by an emulator.

And tbh, it doesn't work in the end

PSPI works fine, I set a path to locate the .8bf file, I install the GML thing via wine to get the .8bf file, and it works, I put it into the folder I selected with PSPI, restart GIMP, and it does not show up...
Grr.

Anyone help?

I just noticed that not a single PS filter works ... hmph...

BTW:
GML Matting has got the exact same algorithm as GrowCut has.. but it's like GreyC and G'MIC, they moved to another (here commercial) base.
