Gimp wont recognize any of my folders/files in my pictures!!

Downloaded GIMP on my new laptop and then put all my photos from my other computer on my laptop. Now GIMP wont recognize any of my folders that I uploaded to my computer. All it sees is a folder I deleted and pictures I had on here before I transfered my others from my PC.

Help! I need to be able to work on my pictures!

Are you able to open them up manually, i.e. with another program?
Are you able to open up the folder and are the files showing?
If so, try right-clicking on the files and go to "Open with..." when you're on Windows. Then select Gimp and try if that works. Another way is starting Gimp, and then dragging/dropping the images into the main window.

If this doesn't work, can you give us a screenshot or something?

Idk why, but when i right click a image file i get a "Edit with gimp" option.
Not sure how it ended up there, but handy!

Yes if you have Gimp set to open the format of the image file you right click on, you will have a right click (shell) option to edit it or open it with Gimp.
You can set Gimp to do this simply by right clicking any image and select properties, opens with and select change, choose Gimp from the menu.From now on Gimp will associate the format with itself.

REGARDLESS of this however Gimp should open the image if you have Gimp open and go to File>open and browse to the image.
I would try restarting the laptop and see if the images are redrawn.
