How can I make docks work as floating windows?

Postby Cauac » Mon Jul 29, 2013 1:22 am

Yesterday I was updating Gimp on my Mac running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I got and installed a Gimp 2.8.4 installer from "without python or any add-ons". I thought there was not any Gimp 2.8.6 installer for Mac yet.

Running this one, I noticed for the first time that toolbox and the docks worked as floating windows, meaning that they disappeared, both when I went to another application and when I used Exposé for showing all windows or all application windows. Very useful!

Well. Then I found on the installer of the latest Gimp 2.8.6 with some add-ons ;D . After installing it, docks and toolbox work as usual, as normal windows ??? .

I've been looking for a way to make them floating windows, and found that in Preferences, Windows Managment, Hint for Docks and Toolbox I can select Utility Window. It makes them work as desired when using Exposé, but they do not hid when switching to another application; in fact both dock and toolbox stay in front of all other application windows.

All that for my questions. How can I make them hid when switch to another application?

Thanks in advance for your help.
