Installed Gimp, crashes on launch

Postby ladyd252 » Thu Aug 21, 2008 7:46 am

So I downloaded gimp and installed x11 today. I tried to launch gimp, and it actually did the thing where it takes a long time to load the first time and then just closed. It closes immediately after it loads every time I try to run it. This is what it says when I try to run it from terminal:

s-computer:~ ladyd252$ /Applications/Gimp.app/Contents/MacOS/Gimp; exit

(gimp-2.4:2381): Pango-CRITICAL **: pango_glyph_item_split: assertion `split_index > 0' failed
/tmp/skl/Gimp.app/Contents/Resources/bin/gimp: line 10: 2381 Bus error gimp-2.4 "$@"

(script-fu:2382): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: script-fu: gimp_wire_read(): error
logout
[Process completed]

I also changed the gimp file because a few people seemed to say that fixed their problem (d-busing error) but then now its a bus error..

Would appreciate any advice that could fix this error.

Hi,

i'm pretty sure that this issue is related to a weird/corrupted font that it fails to handle. If you can do that, i might recommend trying to move away/remove some fonts and trying again. Otherwise, i'm afraid that bug would need to be forwarded to the Pango team (Pango is what GIMP uses to deal with fonts and text)
