Wanted to try something BnW....advice?

I'll be using this pic. I know, I know, I'm obsessed with my Vibe....just wanna try something black and white with red accents or something. Lotta white in this pic so I thought it was fitting. Any advice on what I should do? I've never messed with BnW much...

did a desaturated version and masked where the car was so it kept it's color. And got rid of the green reflection on the headlight.

I would work on cleaning up the white on the rear side, it looks dirty, almost greenish. Try using hue and saturation to change the green to a blue, blue is closer to pure white.

ueah, the lights under the parking deck are all greenish. I'll see what I can do with it. I had this pic in a certain folder on my oc and I thought it was taken with a Camera, but I'm pretty sure this is a cell-phone pic

I googled greyc and apparently it's discontinued and the same people who made it now put out G'MIC and it does all the same stuff and more.

Anyone use that before?

Personally, I don't use G'MIC since I don't see any use for the filters, besides GreyC. So I still have just GreyC from before it was discontinued.

I plan on going back to this spot and taking the photo with an actual camera so nI can edit it or do a wallpaper if i want. Thanks for all the advice and I did try to d/l g'mic but i'm not sure i did it right

Using a BnW with colors highlighted usually only works with colors other than white. I see that you tried leaving the original color of the vehicle while making the surroundings BnW. Good job on cutting out and feathering the car but again since the car is white it's almost not noticeable. You should just make this a full on BnW.

In the future try cutting out vibrant colors of pictures like bright green, red, or sea blue. Pick a color, and then only show objects which match that color, then make the rest BnW. That's how you know when you should do that. It's to make interesting objects more noticeable such as a rose or rose pattern on a dress.

Crop the image first, excluding the distracting beams so that the focus will be on the car and the lights. Then proceed to..
1. Filter>Noise Reduction (this will smoothen the image thus eliminating the "grain")
2. Filter>Smart Blur
3. Convert the image to B&W
4. Adjust colors (saturation, luminance, deepen, brighten...) under Bright, Color
5. For finishing touches, you may go to Filter>Linear Gradient, Graduated Tint, Vignette, Film Effect whichever satisfies you.
