Fun interleaving ribbons

Playing with gimp shadows in photography. No original concepts but a fun little interleave. I would post the original xcf image but the *.xcf.bz2 image is 79MB.

I did this once in ps, just to test it.
Its pretty neat!
Should be a script for this!

That photo is really cool 
Idk about that effect, it might look good but I don' t like the way this formation of the squares leaves all the black holes.
And something went wrong with the upper guys head, it looks like it' s stretched
