I appreciate the comments and criticism. I'll accept it for what it is because the variations of rat rodding, street rodding and hot rodding probably aren't within the range of the average viewer. That said, the noticeable contrast (or should I say conflict) I created are legitimate because it drew your eyes to said issues.
I did go for a deep SoCal street rod look where builders use rustoleum and light or dark gray primers to add effect. Rust was never my target enhancement. There is no boundary for their techniques for weathering in their world. Equally, there is a sub-class while all the weathering is part of plan, the clean engines, polished trim and chrome trim and spit-shined whitewalls is all the rage.

As far as the center hinged hood, I guess the hinge could be removed.
