Terrible Signature

Postby David Wood » Sat Sep 10, 2011 6:48 pm

It's been so long since I've made a sig. Plus the fact all I have is a stock pack without any c4ds or fractals.

Anyway, tell me what you think of it, I was trying for something simple.

Yeah it probably could be blurred a little more. You mean 'terrible signature' or 'Survive'?

Not bad actually. This tag would benefit though from removing the blue effects and clever use of adjustments as colors are kinda washed and contrast isn't working.

Could you send me a link where the heck you learned to make those awesome red and blue curves?

@25 So I need to darken it up a little and remove the blue flame?

@Hero They're just flames. Filters, Render, Nature, Flames.

Version two. Took out the blue flames, gave him a little more contrast, and blurred the right side a bit more.

EDIT: Oops, I accidentally deleted the first version, crud.

To be honest, this is one of the best sigs I've seen around here for the last weeks...
I like...
- The depth
- dat flame
- the mood of the image itself

I don't like...
- the colors on some parts

You could improve...
...the colors by using some gradient maps (but don't overdo it, it only needs a slight touch). Also the right may be a bit over-blurred.

All in all rating
Beginner [-------------------[]----] Awesome

Further tips/comments
Idk why you call it terrible but the flame is really awesome (!) and the depth is cool, the font and text in general is fitting the humble and serious theme,
Inactive.
Spoiler: show

Well I think it's terrible because all I did was add the depth, flame, text, and color corrected it. I think the colors might be personal choice, I like the washed out effect with the subtle blue and orange. :)

IMO the blue to the far right isnt that subtle.
but other then that and my eyes are constantly fighting over looking at Smith and the thingy to the right.

The blue in the middle, if that's what you're calling the far right,is meant to be stronger

Try using a solid dark brown layer on lighten only and play around with the opacity and see what you get in terms of colors.
