I've already spent about 2 hours on this piece and I'm about to call it done, but I want to get a few suggestions first. I'm already considering cutting the text, and I'm open to any other ideas.

I don't think removing the text is completely necessary, but you could experiment with different effects around the text, instead of the current one.
Also, I think it fades into black a bit to strongly, but that's just IMO.
I really like it, great effects.

Color, the colors aren't very appealing. Aqua green and orange don't look very good.

Thanks for your quick responses, guys.

@Soewut: The original stock had a pretty strong fade on it to begin with, and I was just trying to cover up some extraneous background stuff and make the light source a little stronger (since I messed up a little and ended up putting one behind him). I'll try some other effects with the text and see if I can make the fade more gradual.

@David: What colors do you suggest? I might try a monotone since the original is greyscale, but I also wanted some sharp contrasting colors too =/

i think the right is too embty and there is no transition to the actual image. The text is good, as i always like text, but the lines around it are too much imo i like it a lot n once again i hate how everyone works with these small images!

@vT: I worked on the transition a little and cut the text because it was just filler. About the small images, I've actually been working at about the size limit for the forum because I like having a little more freedom. The reason I don't like to work large and scale down is because sometimes the composition and detail gets lost in translation, but that's just me (I know you like to work big, and it seems to work for you).

Colors look a little better, but they still need some work. Have you run GreyC on it yet, it's really noisy.

@David: I haven't, mainly because I switched from Windows to Ubuntu and haven't gotten around to getting greyC on here yet. I'll try that out, though.

Edit: So it was harder than I thought to install GMIC on Ubuntu, but I did it, and I used it.
