uhm i cant get it working...

should it be installed in :

C:/Program Files/Gimp-2.0

or in

C:/Program Files/Gimp-2.0/Gimpadorsomething (<--- dont know anymore what name the installation gave)

anyway i tried both, renaming the gimp.2-4 icon (yes i copied it...) to gimphoto.exe but it does not seem to work....


what did i do wrong?!

i really dont know, sorry tomahawk. but i will say this before anyone else installs it. when you have layers/tool options in a separate window in the gimpad, and you close it, you cant get it back. when u hit add tab it immediately disappears, i tried getting this to work, a few different times, and i just eventually gave up.

@tomahowk. the three files I mentioned earlier need to be in C:/Program Files/Gimp-2.0/bin.

@lamaz1928. I'm not having any issues with it could it be an issue with win vista? maybe..

hmm in the bin file i can find 2 of the 3 files:

Gimpad.exe
GimPad.exe.manifest

but not the .chm

hmm i think we all got it wrong....

2 things:

Gimphoto, has all new menu's and layerthingy's (actually same as Gimpshop i suppose)
GimPad, will make everything in 1 window.. but it wont work if youre only using the Gimp, GimPad will ONLY work if you have GimPhoto (which, apparently, has not yet everything in 1 window....)

there you go.... i think we have to:

either wait for Gimp 2.6

or wait for a new Deweirdifier for windows for gimp 2.4.....

Deweirdifier DOES still work on gimp 2.4
though the hardest problem for me was to find a download for it ¬¬

drag the .exe and the .dll files to: C://Program Files/Gimp-2.0/lib/gimp/plug-ins...

IMPORTANT: if you finish gimp by clicking it away on the background from the dewierdifier, it wont ask you to save it.... so just save yourself or finish the gimp INSIDE the dewierdifer instead..... *bit confusing i know *

if you cant live with gimp the way it is, install deweirdifier, but it has its cons:
-you cant set your own size canvas, only opening images, or using templates.... (probably deweirdifier doenst work optimal with gimp 2.4)

That one windowed screenshot was taken using GIMP 2.4+Gimpad . Gimpad was made for gimphoto but if you follow the steps i outlined you can make it work with the normal gimp 2.4.

in that case i was wrong... but could you then explain it once again?

cause i have a few questions:

is the .chm file a HTML file?! otherwise i cant find it...

should GimPad be installed in:

directly into:
C:/program files/gimp.2-0

or indirect in its own map:

C:/program files/gimp.2-0/GimPad

also, why should you make a new icon, gimphoto.exe directing to the normal gimp .exe file? Because if you do that, you will have 3 icons on your desktop:

-gimphoto.exe
-gimp.exe (the one everybody normally uses)
-gimpad1.1.exe (the one that came with gimpad...)

i think ive got it working, am i right that you first have to launch gimp, and after that GimPad?
(in that case i think they should implement it into gimp.... xD)

Is there any way to run this utility with GIMP 2.6.+ version? I tried it, but it didn't work. Can you update how-to for newer GIMP, please? I am sorry for my english , but I am from Czech republic .

Would this serve any purpose on Win7 ... Win7 has no taskbar buttons, and it's blurry to me what else it does exactly...
