I just popped back to see if there might be any solutions to this problem or if anyone else had had the same problem. I might even have been tempted back . But not after this reaction. Just because I didn`t post much didn`t mean I was not visiting the forum regularly to keep up with all the news about Gimp. In fact I was looking forward to trying out 2.8 , with all the new features hopefully giving me a good reason to start using the program more . A more positive reaction to my problem might have made all the difference. But this is far from positive.

SO STFU TOO MAFFE! :P

Yeah i know, the reason i got so many posts is because i constantly checked in here and had nothing else to do.
But i respect the people of "my age" and older with the title of "ancient" :P

I have the utmost respect for anyone using the forum, not just `ancients' (off which I am one myself unfortunately - time waits for no man as they say!). I was just a bit disappointed that all I got was replies going on about how few posts I had made rather than any help to get 2.8 working. As it happens a friend suggested installing Gimp Portable 2.8 , which I did. It has installed perfectly and Gimp is now back on the laptop and I am looking forward to trying out the new features.
