 "Save for web" plugin
I just got a new job as a web designer that involves a lot of photo editing, but my work computer is a Mac, which I've not used extensively. I've got Gimp working fine on it (as well as Photoshop, to make my boss happy), but right now, I'm using Photoshop's "Save for web" feature, once I've finished editing the files on Gimp. There is a plugin for Gimp ( http://registry.gimp.org/node/33) that has that feature, but I can't find an already compiled version of the plugin. I don't have access to gcc, or any other compiler really, on my machine, so I was wondering if there is a precompiled version of it for Mac somewhere that I'm just not finding. Thanks for you help.

 Re: "Save for web" plugin
Which mac is it? PPC/intel?
I would probably be able to make a mac version.
In the future (when we have native version) a repository of mac plugins may be a good idea

It's an Intel. If you wouldn't mind, I would really appreciate that. That would be a good idea.

 Re: "Save for web" plugin
Actually I'm on PPC... I'm unsure if it would work, can Rosetta emulate one plug-in alone?
Anyway it may be worth trying

 Re: "Save for web" plugin
Try this
put it in [home]/Library/Application Support/Gimp/plug-ins/ (create if necessary)

 Re: "Save for web" plugin
Nope. I put it in my plug-ins folder but it didn't show up in the menu. To make sure I wasn't missing something, I launched it from the command line, and it had this error: Looks like I'm going to need an x86 one, unless there's a way to force it to run through Rosetta. I'll ask around to my Mac friends, and see if any of them can do it.

 Re: "Save for web" plugin
Here is an Intel version I've compiled - I have it working in GIMP 2.4.6 without any problems so far.
Copy it into ~/Library/Application Support/Gimp/plug-ins/

 Re: "Save for web" plugin
I'm currently trying to install the compiled Intel version of Save for Web and have put the file into /Library/Application Support/Gimp/plug-ins/ but when I go to save the option to save for web is not there.
Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?

 Re: "Save for web" plugin
You cannot use precompiled plug-ins with the current GIMP 2.6.6 from gimp.lisanet.de. Read the explanation in the GIMP on osx forum.

 Re: "Save for web" plugin
Very Cool... I would just like to report a success with this version for PPC Mac install. Running a MDD G4 w/10.4.11 Popped it into the recommended folder, restarted, and there it was. Thanks, very much posting.php?mode=quote&f=18&p=12881#
