are any approximate date for Gimp 2.6 download for Mac?

Gimp 2.6 has some new dependencies (gegel, babl). I've patched various Portfiles and added some new ones (for gegl and babl).

And I just typed: "sudo pot install gimp"

So let's hope that everything compiles well...

I was about to start doing the same thing I won't have much time until the week-end though, so if you come up with something before i have time to look into it, and you don't mind sharing, it would be great.

I'm not sure if the latest GEGL/BABL build out-of-the-box on mac. I know i submitted a few patches to them, and they integrated in SVN, but i don't know if they did another release since then.

So, how long are we looking at for GIMP 2.6 on Mac? a week?

If all goes well, less than a week is likely. But of course we never know ahead of time if it will go well

True. My friend has just downloaded it, and man do it want it bad!!

- most things compiled well
- one more new package is needed
- I'll try it later in a few hours (I've to do some other stuff on my job)

Just an information: Aaron Voisine has posted an "experimental" native version of Gimp.app 2.6:

never mind, there are still a few bugs, id rather have the x11 version 2.6 until these bugs are solved.

(sorry for the delay, but I just got a "new" iMac G4 today which I bought on *Bay... I really love this G4.... )

Downloaded and gave it a try - thoughts:

(a) looks very pretty
(b) not usable in it's current form

.. just build and uploaded a Gimp 2.6.0 dmg (Leopard/Intel) on my website. You can download it from

I've labeled this build as "rc1" to indicate, that it wasn't tested in detail, so there may be some errors or bugs (there's currently one plugin which crashed on my machine, so I disabled it. But this will be fixed soon ...)

Please download this package, test it as much as you can and post your experiences here...

Woohoo! Thanks! I've been using 2.6rc1 for the last 10 minutes or so and everything seems good so far. I'll post if I run into any problems.
