I have 2.6.0. ??? I'm not really sure how I got it. I thought I installed 2.5.1! Is 2.6.1 any different than 2.6.0? I'll probably try to install it later if I remember.

Oh wait! I might have it on my lappy. It's running Windows. What is the Windows package version?

The new version sure rocks! Though I came across some issues regarding window management. My windows (at first) seem to become too unresponsive due to the new implementation of better(?) window handling. But eventually I made my way out of that by working around and avoiding some maximizations done on my main canvass.

Prolly the best feature I like about the newest version of GIMP (2.6.1) is the capability to pan beyond the image border, which is very helpful for me since I do a lot of bezier curve manipulations and extended handles are sure pain in the ass with the older versions of GIMP since I have to zoom out the magnification by a great value just to "drag in" the handles.

    ^_^

I have 2.6.0 as well. If you get it, will you tell me if there's anything different about it? :)

I guess I could just check the change log...

I just downloaded the portable application of GIMP 2.6.1 to my USB drive. I really like the way the entire menu is now on the image window and the tool box just follows with it when you minimize or open. The customizable zoom percentage is nice too. Maybe there are other things I haven't found yet, but the rest seems to be pretty much like 2.4. I don't understand why the GEGL operation is optional, but I notice that the control of gaussian blur is very superior and adjustable in a better way.

sky-fyre is right....portable gimp is made so that you can take it and use it on other computers when away from your own. Here's a link if you want more information.

Putting portable gimp on a flash drive is also a great way to test a new version to make sure you really want to upgrade.

I think it stinks. I don't like the new window (what was the point of removing the menu when all they did was replace it with an image just taking up space?). I also hate the default way of handling windows. Luckily you can switch back... I thought. But when doing so a lot of problems arose. In short: Nothing works.

I love it. I thought I would miss 2.4 at first, but after a little while, I realized how much I like it.
