No the tutorial section will have your sig tut for the feature tut, and Baums other two tutorials added in.
In the next issue we could maybe have a separate section for sig creation? It wouldn't have to be a tutorial every issue, just a cool looking sig design. =)

So the mag would be outlined something like this.. about 8 to 11 pages

Cover and sig section - Cyril
Logo , submitted art, News , and index - Rod
    Tutorials - Baum
Scripts and Plug-ins - ? (wondering if this should be included in tutorial)?
Ask The Gimper , credits - Maffe

    Cover - 1 page
    Index - 1 page
    News - 1 page
Ask The Gimper - 1 page
Featured Tutorial Design - 1 to 2 pages
    Submitted Art - 1 page
Gimp Scripts and Plug-ins - 1 page (could be included in tutorial)
Featured Sig Design - 1 to 2 pages
    Credits - 1 page

We need an editor, someone who can check all the spelling before the issue is launched.
    Any takers?

    I'll be editor.

Rod, I'm confused how the sig section will be on page with the cover...?

@Maffe - ask Cyril for cover size...that will be page size for all docs in the mag.

@Cyril - Sorry Cyril, what i meant was you design the cover and a sig tutorial (1-3 different pages)
    1 page = cover
    1-2 pages = sig tutorial
If that's too much we can get some more people Im sure to help.

I've got 4 pages I'm afraid, and I cannot shorten them to 3 I suppose..

    @Cyril:
You've got the sígnature tutorial section, but I thought the whole tutorial section was my part. But that's okay with me ;)
But please, don't explain all the things like layer masks, clipping masks, gradient maps and so on, because I've already got some pages about those ;)

    Suggestion:

What about something like abduzeedo's FFFF? A font section where somebody posts 1 A4 page of the newest, coolest, but free fonts. We can put the "Font of this issue" (Sawasdee I guess) there, together with some others. Then we could have one font for each issue, for example the next issue we all take Cyril's font.

    That's the news, Rod's got those ;)

    But...
We need a big annotation somewhere reading "SEND US YOUR COOLEST ARTWORKS! THE BEST LOOKING WILL BE PUBLISHED IN THE NEXT ISSUE AND BE SEEN BY HUNDREDS OF OTHER GIMPERS! SEND YOURS TO rod.idontknow@your-email.com!"
Then Rod posts them into a seperate "Magazine" forum here, only accessable for magazine writers, and we vote the ones we want to have in our next issue.
    Cool with that?

Cyril, I'm ready now I guess, I will upload the package of 4 pages somewhere, PM you the link + password (we don't want anybody else to see it before it's official, do we? ;D) and you can edit everything you want. Just don't overdo it :p Also, if you're not happy with the overall thing, simply say it to me and I'll give it another try.

Baum // General Tutorial Section // 4 Pages for the first issue // done ;)

    Sounds good.
Font downloads, and ads, can all be added inside to use for filler i suppose. We don't want to get to crowded on the pages.

Baum the reason i asked Cyril to do the feature tut this time around was because he does sig section every issue.Sorry if i messed you up.When you stated everyone likes to do and needs sigs, i thought it would be a great first tutorial.Next issue it's all yours.

Also Baum, can't you just take a screen-shot of each page and post it here for editing? (separate thread or something, name it this months tuts)
That way i can just grab the images and convert them to PDF.We should be able to all just take a screen-shot of our finished work, and post it here all in separate threads to keep it clean.
Which reminds me, Cyril what size are you using for finished pages? Everyone will need to upload an screen-shot of all their finished pages at least that size, bigger would be better for crisper detail.
After we launch each issue maybe David can archive each months mag contents for us.That way we have kind of a way to check what we have already put in the magazine.

Also after i create the PDF album for the magazine i will copy a version to html just before launch of each issue. This way we will have both html and PDF versions.I will upload this html version to my server and give a copy to David to upload here for user/reader download.

I need a way to convert to different languages, perhaps a area in the first issue asking for help on this?
German, and Spanish at least to start. The first issue will have to be in English only I'm afraid...oh well

@ Cyril - you have the logo, are you set with that?

Now i need to run off and find some art, how about some of the work done with the new G'MIC lathing filter? Those images are amazing!I could ask PhotoMaster for a real nice piece, i am sure he would oblige. =)

oh my goodnessess guys... I'm so sorry I haven't got anything done, I have been so very busy lately. urggg... =/

I'm opening your pages now to check it out, Baum.
Then hopefully I'll get some work done.

For the page size, I'm thinking internation A6, which is 1240x1748. A4 was just so frickin huge, in fact the logo is still tiny on A6.

    Here's what's going on here.
Everybody's pages are going to look different, clash, and it will look totally unprofessional.
Baum, what you have right now is good, text wise, it's easy to understand, but the absolute worst part is the unprofessionalism. We're making a Gimp mag, lets make it look like we know what we're doing, kay?

I'll see if I can come up with a good default template that will work with all you guys. If someone else wants to take a crack it it feel free.
