CLICK THE IMAGE FOR A FULL VIEW!!
First make a straight path with the paths tool
    [IMG]

Then hold CTRL or Command (i belive) and click to places on the line
    [IMG]

Then move one up and the other down
    [IMG]

Then continue the path all around

Then get a color, in this tutorial im using orange. Also get a lighter color that works with the other color.
then fill the selection with a radial gradient, and there you go!

Thanks a lot for this Maffe! Very simple, but I was still going about it completely wrong.

What do you mean? Is there a way to make the edges a bit smother?

Download the GreyCstoration script for GIMP. It's a denoise plugin, the best.
