I am completely new to Gimp.
    I have Gimp 2.8.6

    My question :
How do I crop part of an image and paste it to another image.
Example : crop the head of one person and paste it to the other person.

    Thank you.

This is a fairly simple process.
    1) Using the PATHS tool create a path around the object you want to cut out. To close the path press the ctrl key and select your first node.
    2) Go to Select>From Path This turns your path into a selection.
    3) Edit>Copy Edit>Paste and select the new layer icon. This copies your selected area to another layer.
    4) Open the image you want to change - File>Open as Layers.
    5) Place the image you just opened at the bottom of the layer stack.
    6) Select your rendered object layer, and go to Layer>Autocrop layer.
Now select the move tool and click anywhere on the image to be able to move the object on the layer. Place where you desire.
