A friend of mine was speaking in German, and I have no idea what she was saying. She dared me to figure out what a few of the words mean, if I figure it out, I get something in return ;)

Anyways, I tried using translation programs, but I don't know how to spell what she was saying, and I didn't get any usable results.

Its sounded like "lert guy fermentah ver meedish augh". She said they were just random words, so I don't think they are a phrase...but she might have been saying something.
    Any help is appreciated XD
I must look like a moron, but this is the only place I know anyone who speaks German and English.

so MAYBE "ah vermeedish augh" is "ich vermiss dich auch" which means "i miss you too". Does that fit? If not, I need a better transcription :D This is a guessing game with those words :D

Edit: Do you know where she's from? Depending on whether she's from Berlin or Bayern these results may very a TON because of the heavy accents.

By 'share' do you mean share it with you...or simply tell you what I get in return >_>

If its the latter then I figure the winky face pretty well said it all ;)

If its the fore, then eww...

She said it once and refused to repeat the words, so I think I copied it down how she pronounced it, at least how I would spell it in English...

@Baum, I think that's it! She was born in America, but moved to Berlin with her grandparents when she was seven, then came back when she was fifteen. Her grandparents said that she sounds american when she speaks german, but german when she speaks english, so idk what that means...

    I'm guessing accents...
It's like she's an American who learned german and a German who learned american and the accents are shining thorugh.

Berlin then.. this changes some of my thoughts.. some of them have quite an accent over there..
So if "I miss you too" may be correct, we still have "Lert guy ferment"... "geil" is pronounced like "guy" but with an L at the end, and it means "awesome" but sometimes also "horny"... so if you missed an L it may be that, but I doubt it because "Lert" is far from anything German that I know, be it accent or not :p
Any other descriptions? Is "guyfermnent" maybe just "government" in English? That would still leave us with "lert" though ;)
    Needz moar info!

Lert...hmm, geil sounds about right, but I didn't hear a definitive L sound. Of course, like I said, she said it once as she was speaking, instead of slowly where I could hear it. I might have been able to distinguish it if I understood German, like in English when someone says 'Alright', it might sound more like "Lright" which I would be able to distinguish.

Lert...maybe she said ert, or gert, but it definately had the ert in it... and no, it wasn't government...it sounded like...well. does a word in German sound like ferment? maybe she stuttered the 'ah' at the end...?

The "ah" would be the "ich" in a kind of sloppy saying.
About the "ert" there's "er hat" pronounced like "air hut", if you say it quickly it becomes airt or ert. It means "he has", but still, this wouldn't match the "I miss you too" because of the "you", there's no "he" she could be talking about.
With ferment... No idea. There's "vehement", same meaning as in English, but ... "he has vehement". For the "guy" part, could it be "kein" [sounds like cine or kine in English]? That means "none".

Another theory: How about "entah ver meedish augh" being "informier' dich auch" which means "inform yourself too". Which would leave us with "Lert guy ferm". If this does make any sense in the context (by the way, context would be awesome anyway to maybe guess a word or two), this may be it.
We would really have to break these up into every sillable-constellation because you can't know where the words begin/end :D
Anyway, I'll sleep. Let vT take over :D

i gotta be honest this is nearly impossible. We dont know what sound you are referring to if you type a letter. Do you know if it was a properlly structure sentence or if she just said 6 random words?

    Gosh darnit.
    I failed it.
But we had pizza, so it wasn't so bad.
But it bugs me she won't tell me what it was she said...I'm thinking it was a phrase then.

Any random moderator can go ahead and lock this if they like.

It's not really common practice to lock a thread because the discussion is pretty much closed. Maybe some newbie will come and solve it, and you will get your ;)
