Everyone - You should remember 2.7 and 2.7.2 are not stable versions. That is why they are called development versions.
Usually they are released for users to test so bugs can be worked out for stable releases.
This release from Partha is not a release by the developers and bugs should not be reported to the Gimp development team as it could slow down the release of 2.8 even further. If you use it and think you have a bug there is a Gimp-2.7.2 Feedback thread over at Gimp Chat here.
    <a class="postlink" href="http://www.gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1382#p16415" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1382#p16415</a>

    Willy -
Yes it is the version that Partha compiled.
I am Global Mod for both sites
As Maffe stated you can download and install as many scripts as you want. Now that you have Python installed you should be able to find tons of scripts everywhere out there.Cruise the gimp registry and find a few that interest you.You can find many NOT on the registry by just searching Gimp filters, Gimp scripts, Gimp Plug-ins.If you need something done in Gimp, chances are the script has probably been written and is just waiting to be found out there somewhere.

If you have the PSPI plug-in for Adobe you can even run most 8bf filters that Photo Shop uses.Their are many free 8bf's out there also.
I recommend however using Rob A's Python script "Shellout" which opens many other programs that will run 8bf's without a problem.

Filter Forge is an entirely separate program and can not be used with Gimp even with the PSPI plug-in.
It can however be used as a separate filter in Photo Shop (i use CS5)

You can get themes to work on 2.7.2 also you just have to uninstall themes - uninstall 2.6.11
Install 2.7.2 - install themes set your theme for 2.7.2
    Re-install 2.6.11
Run themes again and make sure you set it for global (all users)
That sets the global gtkrc to the theme you chose.
You can also set the same theme for Inkscape but that takes the moving of some theme engines and editing of Inkscapes gtkrc.

I use GTK Themes now myself which i also hacked and added the themes 1.0 themes into it. :)
That allows me to use my Aurora Midnight theme i love so much.I think it may be the only one of 3 themes that uses round buttons.

    I can not find one (dmg) you can try this - <a class="postlink" href="http://clockwork.fr/how-to-compile-gimp-271-on-snow-leopard/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://clockwork.fr/how-to-compile-gimp ... w-leopard/</a>
    *******************************************************

You can try this easier way -
A way of running GIMP 2.7.x on Mac OS X: not (semi) natively through X11, but through virtualization. First of all, we need a virtual machine with the latest Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic), or even 10.04 (Lucid, in Alpha at this time) installed: you can create a 32- or 64-bit Ubuntu VM in VMware Fusion, Parallels Desktop or Sun VirtualBox (which is free). On the Mac OS X integration front, Fusion currently offers the best tools for Linux VMs (including an integrated Unix/OS X windows mode (Unity) that really works).

After having set up the Ubuntu VM (also with the latest updates, etc.), we can begin with the essence of this hint.

Within the VM, we just need to set up the Launchpad PPA (Personal Package Archive) software repository for the unstable Ubuntu GIMP releases; run this command in a terminal window:

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:matthaeus123/mrw-gimp-svn

Then, if the standard GIMP is already installed, simply update and dist-upgrade:

    sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Or, if GIMP isn't installed (as in 10.04), simply install it:

    sudo apt-get install gimp

Currently, the downloaded version is 2.7.2 i believe - it may be 2.7.1 though
    Enjoy

Keep in mind you should have lots of ram to do this

    Not a problem :)
Your best bet may be to grab Gimps dependencies - set up a environment to compile - compile through GIT

Or post something about needing a dmg for gimp-2.7 at the gimp plugin registry site, and maybe someone has one, or a link to one.Won't hurt to ask. :)
