I am a noob...I am trying to use the Free Select Tool following some instructions in the book, Beginning Gimp. Well when I start to use it, all is well and then the line connects back to the first dot and I'm not anywhere near it. So then I have the Marching Ants so I have to start all over . Why is it connecting when I'm not near the beginning where I started? On the Paths Tool I can click ctrl z and undo but it doesn't work for the Free Select tool..Any help appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Cheryl

You must be getting too close to the starting point, try zooming in to be more precise.

I was careful as it happened to me more than once..but it seems to happen when I'm using the pen tablet but not the mouse.... :(
so I dont' know why. I can get really close to other dots when using the mouse but the tablet is too sensitive maybe?

I just retried it and I was 10 inches away from the start point and the line went all the way down to it. :(
    I'm zooming to 200%.

That is really annoying, it looks like you'll have to use the mouse of selecting.
