This last one has an explanation so I will post the description and title here for those who don't feel like clicking on the deviant art page.

    "Those trees were my friends"

"The tree in the foreground on the right, looked to me like the head of some kind of animal like a deer, but in an abstract way. It seemed to be starring straight at all those dead trees thinking, "Those trees were my friends"

I really felt bad for that lonesome little tree

R(A/N)=T rant: to scold vehemently (the formula of a stupid try hard artist, desperately looking for attention)

I like the second one. May I ask whether you live in Michigan?

Thanks, I live in New Hampshire. The second one was actually easier than an average selective colorization. The leaf's color was so different from everything else, that I simply just had to play around with the hue\saturation and touch it up a little with a clipping mask. I should have a selective colorization video tutorial up sometime next week, but in that one I will break out the path's tool.

The leaf was already there. I was just walking through the woods, and came to this log. Then I saw this one red leaf, and was like, "hey, that would be a nice piece of macro photography". So I took the picture. But yeah, I think selective colorization is a good beginner tutorial, since it teaches how to use the paths tool, and layer masks. The first experience I had with it, was some 5 years ago in a computer graphics class. I've learned some shortcuts since then, such as used on the leaf, but those won't be included in the tutorial.

No, I upload my stuff on deviantart, or sometimes a few random image hosting websites. Only my better things make it to deviantart though. I might go on a walk, take 70 photos, upload 5 on facebook, and only 3 on deviantart.

Yeah I just noticed that. I don't know how that happened, but the link should be fixed now.

Oh, and VirtualTone, I think it might be best to make a new thread. It'd be nice to see more topics in the photography forum, seeing as GIMP was originally designed to be a photo editing program.
