Ok I've been working on a sig for a friend and all of a sudden the settings for the eraser changed. I need it to erase to transparency and not to the background.. Any suggestions?

:D sometimes when you change brush sizes for eracing the brush effects change and is annoying.
hard edge mode is the best for what your doing.on the big gimp window make sure that hard edge
by itself has the dot beside it. its best if your pic is converted to the .png format and before you
start erasing rotate the photo just a hair like .10 all this took me a long time to figure out on my own

i also had an answer to this in a different thread. the image you want to erase may not have an :alpha channel"

to add one click: layers>transparency>add alpha channel

lets me know if this solved your problem.
