Is there an easy way to break up a picture into four separate squares in gimp?
I can't really figure out the best way to do this.

    [strike]Help is appreciated![/strike]

EDIT: This is finished. Take a look below ^-^

Select a square area or free select area Edit/cut/paste, do this for all 4 pieces

    Or if you have Python
First open the image you want to cut
Grab some guides to cut it in 4 equal parts...

    Then use Filters/Web/Slice

Or place the guides, and choose Image, Transform, Guillotine. This cuts it up along the guides and opens the new images for saving without needing Python. :)

    Alright that worked!

@Maffe: For this web page class I have. One of the requirements that has to be on the next hwk assignment is to have a picture broken up into four parts included on the web page.
"Paint" on the campus computers is way to annoying to work with. So with gimp I finished it in 5 minutes. ;D

For the web page I have to use .jpg not .png so I had to save each separately, but here's what it will look like:

    It's a little uneven..

I picked Van Gogh for my content.
thanks for all the help :wilber:

I didn't either, I just remembered there was a conversation about this before. ;) The slice filter is the way to go if you are designing a website, but for other uses Guillotine works.

Hey if you are doing this for school for a website, maybe the teacher means sliced for the web. :p
Image slicing makes the image slices small and places them exactly together when they load into a users browser. Also nice for creating click-able button images.Sounds like you are happy with what you did though so good luck with your grade on it.
