I have a simple idea..but its probably going to be rejected..Uploading section members post images on a hosting server so if someone googles an image they will be lead to the site..the more and more people who see the site and know it exists the more people who will join.

100 members is nothing..for a forum..other forums like ubuntu and smashboards get thousands of viewers a hour

meh..I think people want to get their work out..and be noticed. Gimper.net needs to improve that people want two things from a site 1. to have fun 2. to be noticed (example youtube) if gimper sets up a photo hosting page I think we will get alot more members.

good point, i don't know all the details in all that stuff but it sounds nice.

i think a more active competition would compel a new group of gimpers to join, people who like to compete.

If the SOTW was an actual SOTW more would join i think. but things like that repel some people. I'll be honest, this is kind of a beginners forum imo, there's not a whole lot of VERY good people (there are some :)) but it mainly seems the vast majority of member join because it was the first or second gimp site that popped up on google, ask a question about how to edit out the acne on their face, and then leave.

Other ideas, hire a Ad Moderator like some forums have and he/she will advertise around like on sites like hireem (a forum which advertises other forums) and tons of other sites similar.

I think the new redesign of gimp-tutorials.net will give a decent boost to visitors hopefully it will continually to grow.

As for the amount of traffic you can't really compare GIMP to Ubuntu. Ubuntu has a lot more active users.

When we moved SMF to phpbb we lost the image gallery and David hasn't managed to set a new one up yet, hopefully some day :-[ .

And and Bring back SOTW =]

    Make that more active.

Make a group of people to judge and one to ornganize the thread.

And make the topic on the sigs more interesting... not marching bands something such as shoes? sports stars? abstract? animals?

    those things.

I get what your trying to say sglider but I don't see a reason why gimper.net can't be a graphics forum and a gimp support forum.

gimper.net is a gimp forum, but we can make gimp-tutorial.net a graphic design site such contributing design article, something related graphic article..

Then why does the banner say "The GIMP community" Look Gimper.net wont grow if you guys keep rejecting every single idea that a member gives you guys.
